A Sleepy Hollow Story
The Georgia Ballet’s Season Opener

On November 4th and 5th, The Georgia Ballet opens their 47th season with the world premiere of A Sleepy Hollow Story.  The ballet, choreographed by Janusz Mazon, is an ambitious undertaking combining dance,  live narration,  moving sets,  and a bit of magic,  presented as a one-act interpretation of the classic American tale by Washington Irving.  The story follows new schoolmaster Ichabod Crane and the strange events that follow his arrival in the quiet village of Sleepy Hollow.  A Sleepy Hollow Story is sure to enchant the entire family.

Also on the same bill is the return of George Balanchine’s beloved Serenade.   This work, the first ballet Balanchine created in America, was originally staged in 1934 and has since gone into the repertoire of numerous companies internationally.   “Serenade is so breathtaking and lush,”  said Michele Ziemann-DeVos,  Executive Director for The Georgia Ballet, “I’ve never seen the production when the audience doesn’t applaud as soon as the curtain goes up.”  Rounding out the program is the fiery and flashy Don Quixote Grand Pas de Deux.

Performances of A Sleepy Hollow Story are Saturday,  November 4th at  2:00 pm and 7:00 pm and Sunday,  November 5th at 2:00 pm

Tickets are now on sale and are available online at www.georgiaballet.org  and by phone at 770-528-0881.

Ticket prices range from $23-$32 with discounts available for students and seniors.   Rush tickets are available for college students with valid ID one hour prior to shows, when available.   All performances will be held at the Cobb County Civic Center’s Anderson Theatre located at 548 South Marietta Parkway,  Marietta, GA 30060.

The Georgia Ballet, comprised of a professional dance company and a dance school, was founded in 1960.   The Georgia Ballet’s mission is to promote excellence in ballet performance and training,  foster an increased public awareness and appreciation for dance, and provide dedicated and talented dancers with the opportunity for advanced level training and professional performance venues.
