A Sleepy Hollow Story
The Georgia Ballet’s Season Opener
On November 4th and 5th, The Georgia Ballet opens their 47th season with the world premiere of A Sleepy Hollow Story. The ballet, choreographed by Janusz Mazon, is an ambitious undertaking combining dance, live narration, moving sets, and a bit of magic, presented as a one-act interpretation of the classic American tale by Washington Irving. The story follows new schoolmaster Ichabod Crane and the strange events that follow his arrival in the quiet village of Sleepy Hollow. A Sleepy Hollow Story is sure to enchant the entire family.

Also on the same bill is the return of George Balanchine’s beloved Serenade. This work, the first ballet Balanchine created in America, was originally staged in 1934 and has since gone into the repertoire of numerous companies internationally. “Serenade is so breathtaking and lush,” said Michele Ziemann-DeVos, Executive Director for The Georgia Ballet, “I’ve never seen the production when the audience doesn’t applaud as soon as the curtain goes up.” Rounding out the program is the fiery and flashy Don Quixote Grand Pas de Deux.

Performances of A Sleepy Hollow Story are Saturday, November 4th at 2:00 pm and 7:00 pm and Sunday, November 5th at 2:00 pm.
